The Cafe

The Canal Trust Cafe in Bradford-on-Avon , previously the Lock keepers cottage, first opened its doors on 23rd May 2003 by his Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, and has been successfully run by current owners Tarkan and Victoria since 2010. The cafe’s interior has been quaintly decorated which can seat up to twenty people comfortably, and is complimented with a large outside seating area in the beautifully kept garden, which is maintained by the Canal Trust volunteers.
A full menu is offered; from barista style locally roasted coffees, home made cakes and scones, full English breakfasts, waffles, light lunches, snacks, sweets and ice creams. All dietary requirements are catered for; a children’s menu is available as is a bowl of water and treats for any four legged guests!

Tasty Meals Our Menus

Our seasonal menus offer our customers a range of quality home cooked food which is always cooked to order. You can start the day with a full English breakfast, using smoked backed bacon, cumberland sausages and exceptionally fresh, locally produced eggs. Around midday, the cafe moves on to its lunch time menu. You can still purchase a cheeky bacon bap, but you may prefer a freshly baked baguette filled with a choice delicious fillings. The most popular tends to be the traditional brie and bacon and the diced chicken with smoked bacon and avocado. We also make our own burgers which are highly popular with the locals and tourists alike. Most of the items on the menu are home made including a quiche option and a bowl of fresh hot soup.

Barbara McLellen Boat Trip Boat Trip & Buffets

To enhance the experience whilst cruising along the canal, why not take a cream tea on board or a cheeky slice of cake! If you are thinking of popping into the cafe after your trip, its always best to reserve your cream tea, as they don’t last long!!
If you are chartering the boat for a special occasion, we offer a buffet catering service. Once you have booked your trip, choose the buffet from the menu, and leave the hard work to us.

We met friends here on one of the hottest days this summer. We chose to sit at a sun shaded table in the beautifully manicured garden (which right now is full of summer flowers and colour) overlooking the canal where we enjoyed a lovely lunch.

Tea and cake in the sun.
We needed a sit down for an hour until our boat trip. What better place to go than this restaurant, seats outside, nearly on the canal edge. Service was very quick and the slices of cake fresh and tasty.
